PWR is surged into the target's armor in the form of heat, temporarily weakening it enough for the disruptor to do it's work.
Thermal Disruptors are non-lethal melee weapons like neural disruptors. However, they use both PWR and cooldowns. On average, they do less KO damage but can pierce higher amounts of armor. When a thermal disruptor is used to attack a armored guard, it consumes 2 PWR (or 1 for the tier IV version) per point of armor the guard has. If the guard has now armor, no PWR is used. There are four “tiers” of Neural Disruptor that are generally available.
